Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal was built in 1632 by the Emperor Shah Jahan as a mausoleum
for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
Based on the design of Humayun's tomb in Delhi, the Taj Mahal marked a return in Mughal architecture to the roots of Persian architecture after a period of abandonment during the reign of Akbar and Jehangir.
